About the Role
We are looking for a hands-on, analytical, and business-savvy Accounting Manager to join our team. This position is responsible for performing all accounting duties in-house, including monthly close, reconciliations, billing, cash flow forecasting, and financial reporting.
You’ll work cross-functionally to develop and track KPIs, build project-level financial reporting, and support strategic decision-making with accurate and timely insights. Key Responsibilities
General Accounting & Month-End Close
- Perform all in-house accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements.
- Own the monthly and year-end close processes.
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of the general ledger in compliance with U.S. GAAP.
Cash Flow Management
- Prepare and maintain weekly and monthly cash flow forecasts.
- Analyze trends and identify opportunities to optimize cash position.
Billing & Revenue Operations
- Own the client billing process, ensuring timely, accurate invoicing in alignment with contracts and scopes of work.
- Work with project managers and operations to capture billable hours and resolve discrepancies.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis
- Partner with leadership to build annual budgets and rolling forecasts.
- Provide ongoing variance analysis (actuals vs. projections), with clear commentary.
- Support scenario planning and ad hoc financial modeling.
KPI & Profitability Reporting
- Design and maintain KPIs and dashboards to monitor performance.
- Build project- and consultant-level profitability reporting.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 2+ years of Big Four public accounting experience or 5+ years of progressive experience in management accounting roles.
- Proven experience handling all accounting operations independently.
- Strong understanding of accrual accounting, cash flow planning, and reporting.
- Expert-level proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical thinking and communication skills.
- Strong understanding and application of revenue recognition in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
Preferred:
- CPA or equivalent credential preferred.
- Experience in professional services business strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with project-based accounting and time-tracking tools.
- Experience building KPI dashboards with Excel or BI tools.
